SPAR India joins hands with Government of India for Make in India campaign1

CEO’s Interaction with Minister of Food Processing Industries Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal

Bangalore: SPAR India which is at the forefront of many leading initiatives in the industry is now in talks with the Government of India (GoI) over several of its initiatives which are in line with GoI’s Make in India campaign.

Over the past three years, the Make in India campaign of the Government of India has offered vast potential for attracting investments in the Food processing sector. Some key policy interventions of the Government include – 100% FDI in Food processing and as well as 100% FDI for trading, including through e-commerce, in respect of food products manufactured or produced in India.

Taking this forward, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India is organizing an International event ‘World Food India 2017′ in New Delhi from 3-5 November 2017. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is the National Event Partner.


To understand the views from the Indian industry on the World Food India 2017, Minister Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Ministry of Food Processing Industries and other senior officials from the Ministry held a closed-door CEO’s Interaction on 18 August at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru. SPAR India MD & CEO Rajeev Krishnan & Senior Vice President (Food), Solai Sakthivel were present during the meet.

SPAR India MD & CEO Rajeev Krishnan highlighted SPAR India’s initiatives during the interaction which included three key points mainly optimization of Farm to Fork value chain of fresh produce, export of SPAR branded products made in India and the focus on health & wellness categories. He re-iterated SPAR India’s commitment to better the lives of farmers through various initiatives like Farmers Meet, exporting quality SPAR India branded products to other countries boosting India’s food manufacturing industry and finally with the focus on healthy alternatives like millet for a healthy lifestyle.


World Food India (WFI) 2017 aims to provide global businesses a platform to explore Indian market across the value chain in Food Processing and allied industries as well as in Food Retail. The event is expected to bring the various stakeholders in the Food Processing sector on one platform to enable them to get acquainted with opportunities in the sector and interact with potential investors, suppliers, purchasers, and joint venture partners.
